Barangayan sa Bacayan

during our last practice..

Who would ever thought that I myself danced in a public facility in front of many people. I can do that because of my ka-TRIBU in Sitio Huyong-huyong.

After 2 weeks of practice, we are now on our final hour to once more prove that we from Sitio Huyong-huyong are the best.

THE CONTEST PROPER

who run the WORLD!
Most of us are really nervous but we don't mind it as long as the support of our fellow ka-TRIBU is there. It was like a dance showdown and a crowd of thousands inside the Bacayan gym.

After our performance, we ate our potluck dinner and waited for the winners be announced. Even we didn't won any place from the dance performace, Sitio Huyong-huyong won the "Most Crowd" award. It was only our sitio filled the gym with spectators.

The experience was worth it and we know that we did our very best to perform and make our own sitio proud. We will make sure that next year will be another year of challenge for us to win the competition.

Flash-flood in Sitio Huyong-huyong

A man is trying to walk amidst the flood.
On August 21, 2011 (Sunday) a flash -flood fill our place here in Sitio Huyong-huyong as a result of heavy rains. Flood reached as high as 3 feet that fill the houses in low-lying areas. The reasons of flooding is poor drainage and since Sitio Huyong-huyong is located between two high areas, chances are high for rain water to fled in our place.

At around 12 noon, huge rain cloud formation are clearly visible in the skies. After the quick drizzle,

Huyong-huyong: Easter Egg Hunting

Easter Eggs on plant nest...
Easter as what most Christians believe as the rebirth of Christ from the dead. As for me an egg is a sign of new life; for sooner it will be a chick then a chicken.

THE IDEA
As Easter was fast approaching, Easter Egg Hunting activities in malls, hotels and churches are already newspapers and radio. Since most of these activities have registration fees and costumes (eg. Easter Bunny contest); I have come up with the idea to have our own Easter Egg Hunting in the community.

si Sim nag-palayo jud kay basin ma-paso.
EASTER SUNDAY
It was an early Sunday morning when I head back from the office, bringing a pack full of loot bags filled with goodies for the 1st Easter Egg hunting in Sitio Huyong-huyong. Asking my neighbors to wake-up at 3am was a sacrifice to make but it turnout to be easy for them since it was for the kids. Cooking and painting the eggs is not an easy task instead we make it enjoyable to make because we will be hiding those eggs somewhere.
ang kaldero na wala kaayo nahugasan na gilutoan ug biko.

There are 90 eggs to be hidden and only 24 eggs has a caption "HAPPY EASTER". Only those kids who can find eggs with Happy Easter can have a loot bag filled with goodies.

naluto na ang itlog, pintalan na sab ni..

EASTER EGG HUNTING in HUYONG-HUYONG

Happy, Yepee, Yehey!!!

daghana pud sa itlog nimo, oie!

cge, pag-kuha nako sa premyo i-hatag nako sa imo ang mga itlog para mahatagan sab ka.. hehehe!!!

I thank those who volunteered to prepare in cooking, painting the eggs and lastly by hiding the eggs. To Ian Velasco, Sem Velasco, JBay Baguio and Rollen Lecciones... Salamat!
