One Tree, One Life

Climate Change has been already part of our lives and we will be living with it everyday. Storm serge, typhoons, monsoon rains, flash-floods, floods, casualties, death; these are the things that we will be facing and we can't just stop that --but we can do something to prevent worst scenarios to happen.

Why One Tree, One Life?

One Tree, One Life will be the 1st Tree Planting activity of the TRIBU™ Huyong-Huyong Youth Organization. One tree can save lives from all of these climate change and we only have one life to live and we see it as a precious one.

Our plan?

As the activity is still on it's progress, success will still be in our hands. We will be tapping Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for free seedlings and location for the said tree planting activity and the local barangay council together with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) for transportation and financial assistance.

One Tree, One Life: the 1st Tree Planting activity of the TRIBU™ Huyong-Huyong Youth Organization.

This will be a whole day activity with nature very soon...

Barangayan sa Bacayan 2012

The annual fiesta of Barangay Bacayan had just started, with it patronal saint Sr. San Roque. The fiesta usually starts during the 3rd week of September but due to some changes, it started on the 2nd week of August. As 1st novena had just started, it was commenced with "Barangayan sa Bacayan" which all sitios of the barangay come together in festive presentations and especially food.

Despite the early celebration, preparations were so tight that Sitio Huyong - Huyong was informed 2 days before the grand night. No time for meeting and all we need is full of hopes that we can present something for the audience.

Financial support is one of the factors that thrives us to be on the go. Rushing the props, costumes and even the music remix that participants will use on the dancing floor were all made on a hurry.

But everything was paid-off when we finally won the 1st place as the Biggest Delegation in whole of Barangay Bacayan.

Ka_TRIBU Teens auditions for Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Season 4

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition had made their auditions for the upcoming 4th Season. Teens in Huyong-Huyong were interested in attending the auditions but hesitant to be there due to shyness. Since some are ready to be absent in their classes and really interested, we made an idea to do house-to-house announcement for those other teens who are interested to come. It was an instant plan and there are 10 young people who made to the list. We make sure to be early since auditions could really result to a multitude. We suggested to prepare their things and requirements as well as food and extra money.

@ McDonald's - J Centre Mall
Bahala nag kapoy, SMILE japun!

The following day by 4:00am we head our way to J Centre Mall in A.S. Fortuna, Mandaue City which is the venue of the auditions. Everyone was kinda tense yet excited. This was their first time and I can feel how tense would it be in an audition. We first stopped at McDonald's to have light breakfast just to be relaxed before the sun rises.

asa man ang nag-linya, wala jud tarung na sistema...

limanan ka na nag-ilog jud ang mga batan-on sa sticker ug waiver form?

fill-out jud... time to shine ka_TRIBU™

The long stretch of line of other teen aspirants, hassle distribution of priority stickers and waiver forms means that there was no clear system from the organizers. At around 11:30am we were advised by the security personnel to be back by 1:30pm since their priority numbers are still a bit far to those who came first. So instead of going home to wait, we decided to eat lunch inside the mall.

pani-udto sa sawog.. tag-sang lumpia nya pork & beans tapos Mang Tomas, sulbad!

By 1:30pm, the auditions resumed and ka_TRIBU teens were among the first in line. They were interviewed with one question, What is your motto in life? --and the rest was history.

Tua-ra si Nickelyn, guardian baya ka ha...
It was a "better luck next time" for our ka_TRIBU Teens. We went home with happiness and fulfillment in everyone's heart. At least they've tried and somehow believed in their selves that they can do it. I want them to be exposed so they can build their self-confidence and self-esteem. That's the ka_TRIBU spirit.

Barangayan sa Bacayan

during our last practice..

Who would ever thought that I myself danced in a public facility in front of many people. I can do that because of my ka-TRIBU in Sitio Huyong-huyong.

After 2 weeks of practice, we are now on our final hour to once more prove that we from Sitio Huyong-huyong are the best.

THE CONTEST PROPER

who run the WORLD!
Most of us are really nervous but we don't mind it as long as the support of our fellow ka-TRIBU is there. It was like a dance showdown and a crowd of thousands inside the Bacayan gym.

After our performance, we ate our potluck dinner and waited for the winners be announced. Even we didn't won any place from the dance performace, Sitio Huyong-huyong won the "Most Crowd" award. It was only our sitio filled the gym with spectators.

The experience was worth it and we know that we did our very best to perform and make our own sitio proud. We will make sure that next year will be another year of challenge for us to win the competition.
